First of all you're going to need either a potty seat or a training potty. You also want to make sure that if you are using the potty seat on the regular toilet that you do have a step that your child's feet can rest upon. You want to make sure that you have lots of underwear. You also want to make sure that you have lots of rewards for your child so that he can get a reward every single time he pees in the potty. And when you are going to choose the rewards for your child, think about what your child would climb mountains to get. Whatever that may be, that's what you want to use as a reward for your child having a success in the potty. That can be a match box car, it can be stickers, it can be a little doll, it can be new Play-Doh or it can be M&M's or a spoonful of frosting. Whatever your child is motivated by, that's what you want to use as a reward. So it's really important that you keep those rewards in the bathroom within view so that he can see them at all time. I recommend using a box with a locking lid so that it is difficult for your child to open. It's also important that the box is clear so that he can see what's inside the box but he can't actually get the item out of the box until he goes pee in the potty. You also want to have a stop watch so that you can keep track as to when he needs to go potty and how long he sits on the potty. You'll also need lots of drinks, salty snacks, and activities for your child to do while he's sitting on the potty. And those are some of the supplies that you'll need to begin potty training.
